Advertising Hits the Road!

Advertising Dept Truck
Just when you thought advertisers had placed ads on just about everything we see every day, something else comes up. You’ve heard of cars that have ads on them, and you may have even seen some driving around that are completely covered in advertisements. Now, advertisers are setting their sights on a bigger canvas: trucks and RVs.

These vehicles will be sent out especially to promote their products, driving around close to places that people frequent in the summer: amusement parks, tourist attractions, beach towns and outdoor concert venues are just a few of the ideas promoters have.

An Old-Fashioned Concept

In these days of technology-driven ads, isn’t bringing the ads to the people an outdated notion? Can’t people just look up C. Luce dresses on Facebook and “like” that particular product?

That may be true, but advertisers feel they want to put a little more humanity into advertising. The people aboard the vehicles will take the opportunity to actually interact with consumers, by giving away products or prizes along with other ways to build personal relationships between consumers and brands or even television networks.

CBS is one of the networks that will be on board their own summer tour this year. They may even offer ways for fans to meet stars of their favorite CBS television shows. These interactive experiences promise something that social media, television commercials or radio ads just can’t do: actual interaction between people.

Food Delivered!

Restaurants, such as Jack in the Box, will also be traveling this summer. The fast food chain will offer food for consumers in some of its newer markets, which is a great way to build their brand with people that maybe aren’t as familiar with what they offer.

There is just something about promoting your product directly to consumers as well as engaging them face-to-face that can really do something positive for a brand. Connecting with people is something most brands may not always think about, but the importance of it can’t be underestimated.

People want to feel like they are important to their favorite brands and that they are valued as consumers, so bringing something directly to them seems like a great way to repay them. It’s a great way to let consumers know they are valued. Afterall, if it weren’t for them, these brands wouldn’t be what they are today.

Tour Dates

If you want to know where you might catch a glimpse of the Jack in the Box truck, the CBS van or the Sauza tequila mobile advertising promotion, check the social media pages or websites of your favorite brands to see if they are going on tour this summer. Their destinations and routes may be available online, and you can get up close and personal with your favorite brands this summer.

Going a little retro and engaging with fans offline may be the best new/old idea advertisers have had in a long time!
